I've begun my work on poetry with my students. Most have taken the survey I developed at our last group work day. I'm still looking at the results. Some students are enthusiastic about the work, others, not so much. I notice that a lot feel like they're floundering, so I guess I have my work cut out for me.
How are they floundering Gina?
ReplyDeleteGina,
ReplyDeleteI will be doing a poetry unit later in the school year and look forward to hearing what you are doing. Whenever I give a project assignment (i.e. a recent book project) students have about 20 options from which they choose a certain number to include in their final project. One of the options is to write a poem which sums up the plot of the story and I am surprised how many choose this option. I will share a couple with you later today. One of the best results came when we watched a YouTube video of Alan Jackson's "Where Were You" and I gave students a copy of the lyrics. They wrote found poems and all were really, really good. I would love to hear what some of your assignments are.
