So - I just finished my first round with Freshman research papers. We're ready (for the most oat) to move to the next step and do research to create the group websites. So, before we begin I'd like to spend some of my time this Saturday in developing a before and after assessment to gauge what they get out of it when we're done. I'll need to figure out what questions to ask, how to ask them, and what method to use. I have done paper questionnaires in the past, but I know that there are on line ways of doing this. I'd love to somehow turn the info into graphs or something so that we can get a better handle on the data.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
You can use google forms to create your questionnaires. These are easy to create and will be recorded in your docs as a spreadsheet. I'm not sure if you can make a graph from that spreadsheet or not. I used a google form for a sort of pre survey of my students. I hadn't thought of graphing my results, but it sounds like a great way to analyze the data. I'll experiment with my results and let you know how it turns out.
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest the same thing as Gina-- and I am also unsure if you can graph from the spreadsheet. I remember trying once but couldn't figure it out...Google Docs may be smarter than I am, though!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting! Although I know about Google docs, I don't actually do anything with it yet. Maybe one of you could give me a hand on Saturday....
ReplyDeleteA member of my teaching team showed me how to get a nice graphic summary of a google form/survey. When you are in spreadsheet view simply click on the "form" menu button. From the dropdown select "show summary of responses" and voila! It really is making it easier for me to interpret my survey results. I'll be glad to spend a bit of time with you, Jon to show what little I know about this tool.
