Project Posted

Well, I finally figured out the book format thing, and got my project on line. I plan to embellish it some more - add pictures, maybe some video etc. Right now it's a skeleton. Please let me know what you think. I linked to three student created websites, so please let me know what you think of them, and that the links work. Thanks!!!

  1. Hi Jon-your resource is looking great so far. I like how you showcased the importance of digital communication in your introduction with the Egypt story. I had time to look at one website and chose the space one. That looks like it took a lot of time and work to accomplish that! One thing you mention about a frustration is the fact the kids were more enthralled with the creation of the website and not so much with the actual writing. It reminds me of another resource (I can't remember which-I've read quite a few) that stressed the importance of teaching blogging, not the blog. I imagine the same would hold true for a website.
I also like how you reference Digital Writing Matters a lot. It shows you put a lot of thought into the process you'd do with your students.
If you create a "future" section-after reading your whole resource, it sounds like you might be able to easily do this project as a wiki and get some of the authentic feedback you are craving. Just a thought. Imagine them doing projects with the pros-so if they are doing a space wiki, they'd have to have someone in the field as a mentor that would read/respond to the wiki. Tons of work to find mentors-but just a thought!
One thing Dave told me with mine is to remember people would be reading this for years to come-so instead of saying "this year"...say "The year I implemented this..." I had to change all of mine! Looking great.

Yes - I have imagined this, and it would be really cool. I wonder how one would go about making this happen...

    Thanks again!
